For most, the name John Hart is synonymous with rugby and the All Blacks. Whilst excelling in his rugby coaching career, he also made his mark in a professional capacity and is highly respected in both sporting and corporate environments.
Sporting Career
John is regarded by many as one of the greatest modern day rugby coaches in world rugby and is widely acknowledged as the architect of New Zealand’s pre-eminence in Rugby in the 1980’s and 1990’s. John’s ability to bring a number of factions together was instrumental in taking All Black rugby into the professional era.
His rugby career highlights include:
- Appointed Auckland Coach in 1982 – 1986, winning three national titles in five years, plus the coveted Ranfurly shield which was subsequently defended 61 times - a record that remains today.
- All Black Selector during the period 1987 to 1991
